Media Center Guide listings

    Hi everyone,

I am having difficulty keeping the guide listings up to date on my HTPC. Does anyone else have these issues? Its causing recording problems to no end!!

I have an Antec machine and gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H mobo, WinTV-HVR1300 connected to Sky box via scart to svideo, then from on board video card to TV via svideo. Using Vista home premium with media centre.

I have briefly looked at using alternate sources for getting listings, like these guys here, http://epgstream.net/, but have had no joy so far.

Anyone have similar issues with the MCE guide and can share the solution?

    Thanks,
    Gary

I think everyone has these issues if you use the MCE guide & Sky. I have a post approaching it's 3 month anniversary over on thegreenbutton about this issue, and it still has not resulted in Microsoft's EPG being updated for Sky Ireland.

Epgstream I came across also recently but have not invested any time in it.

Some folks use this solution, but it's a bit of work or feels that way. Also will cost a few quid.

Others forgo MCE, and use Media Portal in conjunction with xmltv.

There are other various options I am sure others can provide, unfortunately no solution appears easy.

    Allright Eddie,

I actually seen your post up on the greenbutton the other night, its a pity they have not gotten back to you. Who are those guys anyway?

How have you used your htpc from a pvr perspective?

If I get the time I will look into that cam option, but at the moment I have an old TV and the display through the HTPC is not that good, so I dont really use it too much.

What way do you have your HTPC connected to your TV?

TGB is a Windows MCE community, I am not sure if Microsoft folks started it or not, but there is lots of Microsoft guys on there, and they do give input, and take action on issues. It was the only place I could find to try and get the EPG fixed.

I don't use the PVR much as I also have Sky+/HD, and the fact the EPG is incorrect annoys me.

My HTPC is connected to an Onkyo 605 via SPDIF/Coaxial for sound, and I also feed video via DVI->HDMI convertor to the amp and then HDMI to a projector. I also send a 2nd video feed to a 20" monitor directly from the HTPC.
