Spain and France

Meself and herself are thinking of going to Southern France and Northern Spain to chill for a bit. Probably a little travelling and lots of relaxation and eating/drinking with some history thrown in.

We'll be going in early August - peak season for French and Spanish, I know. But... can anyone make recommendations about where to go looking for decent accomodation. Also, we're limited in that we can't drive. I'm eager to see Cantabria and Asturias, she wants to see more of southern France. So we're planning to split the difference. Any ideas for getting good accomodation?

Why do you think the accommodation will be a problem?

Not everyone creates a holidays the same way but I'd figure out where I was flying into and flying out of. Then I'd work out a train route between my point of arrival and the first point of interest, then onto the next stop until I get to my departure airport.

As I can't drive I'd be forced to use trains/buses so therefore any hotels/B&Bs that I stay in will be in towns and should be easy to book from an on-line website such as Expedia.

For info, it's about €40 a day to rent a 50cc scooter and you won't need a driving licence.
