    Dealextreme
Seems like a good deal to me
    1GB €4.84
    2Gb €6.45
    4Gb €11.55
    8Gb €20.51

They seem to say Sony Vaio on them, Sony is debranded off them.

Good find. 8Gb for €20 delivered, nice. :) There's a few positive reviews as well. Has to be one of the cheapest on the web. LED Shoppe are cheaper for smaller sizes: http://www.ledshoppe.com/fm.htm But I'm not sure about their reliability.

I didnt really research the 1Gb and 2Gb sticks. But I said id include them all anyways.

Whats http://www.ledshoppe.com/fm.htm like for delivery? Price wise..

piece of advice anyone doing any dealings with ledshoppe make sure they have an encrypted safety page for processing cc. I think I read somwhere a while back eralier this year on this forum people placing orders and never receiving anything.

    enjoy your shopping! :)

My experience with DX is largely positive but I was extremely disappointed that the last item that I bought from them - a 2GB microSD card billed as a genuine Kingston item - was a knock off fake. They are still selling them as genuine Kingston and merely offered me a free $3 item as compensation. I would be wary of supposedly big branded items for sale from them from now on. In any case almost every second hard drive enclosure and lots of other things on eBay seems to have Vaio on the outside and they are definitely not genuine Sony items.

They are absolutely not Sony products nor are they part of the Vaio branding.

    Slightly OT, sorry:
I got a 2GB Kingston micro SD card from them (DealExtreme), recently. It seems to work fine and I checked that it does have 2GB capacity.
For my info, how did you know yours was fake?

Because the details required to validate it on the Kingston site are not available on the packaging. DX have confirmed that I got a fake. They are still selling the same item ostensibly as a Kingston but presumably actually as a fake. Sounds like you might have the same item. If so then check out the forum posts on the item's web page (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2396) and you'll see what I mean. This is not meant to sound like DX bashing. Generally I am happy enough with the stuff that I have bought from them. Cheap and usually not too nasty. However passing off fakes as some big brand products is offside!

FYI after mucho feckin' around with Chinese translated pages etc I got an email from Kingston titled "Kingston validation confirmation" although the text is too mangled to translate.
So presumably my one is genuine.

Did your item's packaging have an authentication code and license key? Mine didn't and these are what's needed to authenticate the item.

Apparently there's two different flavours of packaging, one of which only has a serial number. I used this site:

    http://www.google.com/translate?u=http://www.kingston.com/china/verifyflash2&langpair=zh-en&hl=en&ie=UTF8

EDIT: FWIW the following excerpt from the DX discussion on the 8GB USB stick referenced in the OP gives you an idea of what is going on with fake brand names on DealExtreme:-
    DylanL (Dealextreme Employee)

All USB drives on DX are tested for its real capacity
And even if the supplier is sneaky to send some fake ones between the real ones you can get a full refund on the item

I've always wondered how DX can stand to deal with dishonest suppliers as frequently as they do. I'd probably have hurt someone and wound up in jail by now.

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon in China. The concept of a company manufacturing and selling a known-defective product is unthinkable in many countries, but is a common occurrence in China; almost a way of life.

Just curious - where did you hear that?

Sorry - just checked the link and I see what you're on about. Apologies!

Having worked in the area of quality and dealt with extensively with Asian companies, I can absolutely confirm this!

    You can try www.memoryc.com

They are based in Kildare and will accept a bank transfer and don't charge a fee for this. Have a look in the help and support section for the bank details...
