    Hi
    I am thinking of getting one of these rifles above in a 22.250. I was wondering if anybody has one and what they think of them good or bad.

    Hello Bernedett10,
    Nice to hear from somebody else from the fairer sex(I Hope) on the Shooting boards. My husband and I shoot the steyr pro varmint in .222. We both reckon that it is every bit as accurate as our 700 custom in 22-250. I have only encountered the savage in .17hummer so I cant comment. Steyr are very accurate out of the box.
    Good luck

    Dont think theSteyr SSG police model is made in 22.250. 243 is the smallest or 308.Both are fine rifles for target or hunting.
    17 Hummer.Think you mean .17 Bee.:confused::D

    My sincere apologies Berettadt10 I can only blame that blunder on the workings of the female mind. Its amazing the way your mind picks something up wrongly at a glance. Grizzly I have often heard .17hummer used as slang for .17HMR on other forums. I may be wrong again of course. Steyr do manufacture the ssgp1169 in .22-250, the ssgp1 only comes in .243 and .308. Again my sincere apologies Berettadt10.

    Dont know much about the savage but i know that steyrs are a beautiful and accurate weapon but in my opinion totally useless! put them down on a bipod and watch your your point of impact change. how such a big company can make such great rifles and then put them into a crap stock is beyond me. Also check out if the steyr can be rebarelled. i think there are aftermarket stocks to be had for them but they are rare enough.

    Have a look at this over on the rimfire centeral site. Savage takes top 3 spots at hickory shoot. 12 series varmint.

    I like the look of the 12FVSS myself.
