Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Happened to me at some point last week, but now its happened twice in a row, so I thought I should bring it to your attention

It's actually as simple as the thread title says - you enter a quick reply, it takes ages and then two copies of your post end up in the thread.

Two examples are in these threads (I soft-deleted the duplicates):

And also, when I tried to post this, it took forever, then returned me to the "post new thread" screen, even though it had already posted the thread. Odd.

Could have been the server time shift rearing its head again, ntpd doesn't seem to be doing it's job properly. Corrected.

Yeah, technically the same issue is now happening - although now I'm getting the "You have already posted a duplicate..." message. This is probably a happy side effect of you fixing the time.

Also painfully slow to use the AJAX functions, which may or may not be connected.

I've come across this a few times too, takes ages to submit, then I get the duplicate message
