Bank reference for letting agent

I see that letting agents typically ask for a bank reference, so I rang my bank to get one organised before we start looking. Turns out they don't give out references as a policy. Would I be right in assuming that coupled with an employers reference payslips/bank statements would be enough to satisfy them that I have regular income?
