    Anybody else hanging today?

Not only do I have a hangover, I have a red wine and Guinness hangover. My body is aching all over and my liver feels
    like a dried up prune.

Any get-better-quick solutions? This is rough, what should I eat for lunch that might help?

I'm still hanging from Friday and Saturday. Have drank 4 bottles of water this morning, two cups of tea and two slices of toast.

Going for Bacon and Cabbage for lunch. Might settle the stomach a bit.

Had to go see my parents yesterday with a post-Dublin Pride hangover. That was NOT pleasant. :(

Red wine and guinness!! Hope you dont have a communal toilet if you are in work today.

    Sounds fruity.

Get a few pints of water into you and try to avoid crap greasy food. It will only make you feel worse.

    Sounds very fruity.

I stayed in on all weekend then went on the lash yesterday as my 'reward'. idiot. It started out with a nice Sunday lunch, a pint and the papers and turned into falling into bed at 1am fully clothed giggling like a naughty school girl...I have ten owies..:(

Take a few of them and try and stay awake as long as you can today. With a hangover like that the worse thing you can do is try and sleep it off, you're only prolonging the agony.

It makes it easier to sleep later as well though if you are prone to gettin the DT's.

I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas..

I will take your recommendation and get myself some alka seltzer but if I don't see immediate results I will hunt you down Tusky..

I presume you are in work? Take a half day and get a few more pints down your neck.

First off, if you feel sick, get sick. Nothing worse for your hangover than a dodgy stomach. Even if your stomach is empty but you're retching, chances are you have a good dollop of saliva and bile sitting in the pit of your stomach. This will make you feel very ill, so you need to be rid. Keep retching till it's all gone. You'll know bile - it's hot, yellow and tastes like liquid ear wax.

Once this is done (or if you didn't need to puke), your stomach is prepared for food.

If you have a pounding headache, take two painkillers now, using just a tiny bit of water to wash them down (like a mouthful). Wait five minutes to give them a headstart before you eat.

Avoid water initially. It's too heavy and your stomach won't like you for it. Aim for something which can be digested relatively quickly and will soak up any acids or bile still remaining in your stomach. Bread is the best for this, fill it with whatever you want, but try to stay low in acid. So a chip butty or a banana sandwich will do well.

Now that you've lain the groundwork, aim for some protein with a little more carb. This is also the time to rehydrate. Lucozade is the man for this - the original lucozade is better than lucozade sport. It's less acidic, and the bubbles will bring relief every time you burp. You feel sluggish and tired because you have an electrolyte deficiency in your brain. The lucozade will fix this in the short-term and the carbs will fix it in the long term.
You can also go nuts with the water if you want, but at this point I'm usually too stuffed. Sit down on the couch and watch TV for about an hour, and you'll feel so much better at the end of that hour.

Try a couple of fizzy Berrocca with a few pints of water. If you can eat anything make it a banana or two. Keep up the fluids though.

Have a huge alco-dump! Always makes me feel better! Otherwise, a pack of meanies/snax, a mars bar and a bottle of lucozade will do the trick. Sugars, salts and bubbles. What else do you want? :D
