    Hi,

Recently received a new TV as a present. The tv was purchased in UK. The old tv received the all the terrestial channels with perfect reception. However with the new one only RTE1 and RTE2 have good receptions. TV3 and TG4 are very poor. Could it be that it is designed to only work in the UK?

Any ideas what the problem could be?

    Thanks

You will need a new aerial.

    Hi,

Forgot to say that I have two new aerials and with these the reception is perfect on the old tv.

Might be a stupid question, but have you tried tuning them in?

TV3 and TG4 should work on the UK TV, as they're UHF anyway which is what's used in UK.

I'm moving this thread to Terrestrial forum.

I'd say you have two aerials so do the prongs of the ' H ' shaped aerial point exactly the same way as the face of the mesh aerial ???

make sure the TV is properly tuned in - you could be tuned to a different weaker transmitter that is also available where you are.

If its tuned OK contact the retailer if possible - it sounds like the new TV has a defective UHF tuner, considering all is fine on another TV

i have a similar problem to this, i have a tv and a one for all aerial in the attic and it was working find up until recently, i've auto tuned it a few times, once it tuned the uk channels perfectly, 1 and 2 average and tv3 and tg4 very poor, now it is just tuning rte 1 very poorly again... i'm very ignorant of these situations, any advice\suggestions appreciated. when i tune it in, it gives a list of countries for me to choose, mainly european, i choose uk, no ireland option..
