Hi, I have been doing kick boxing training but am not great at the kicking part of it. I am really interested in joining a boxing club and was wondering if anyone can suggest a club where girls are welcome?

miilyj your right to join a boxing club if the punching is your favourite part of kick boxing-because kickboxing clubs are terrible at coaching boxing..i,ve trained loads of kickboxers of all standards, European champs an all-and they all started with me like total beginners..best of luck with it

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

Not all Paul, some are very good boxing coaches. Norman Kelly for example has great boxing skill and is a great trainer. Most good Kickboxing coaches will have served some time in the 'sweet science' tbh.

Jon im not a name dropper but i,ve trained with several of the top coaches in Dublin in kickboxing, and trained several Kickboxing champs myself, the 1 thing i always found shocking was there lack of boxing skills,

any kickboxers that have decent hands have done the sweet science as you said yourself or trained in a boxing club regularly, they did not learn it kickboxing,

for example i took on a girl for personal boxing lessons last year with 6 years Kick boxing experience and the lack of boxing technique was so bad i was shocked, and she was a black belt too! her trainer is probably the most well known coach in Dublin if not ireland, i thought her proper in 1 sesson, so it was not down to her been unteachable!

Do kickboxing TKD or Thai boxing for kicking and boxing for punching. even the best kickboxers do that.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

I reckon you've seen it more than I have if you're coaching these people. I've a good feeling who your on about and I can't argue!
The KB coaches that can punch, and put it together have trained in boxing for some amount of time.
    So in essence, I agree!

i think its good for women to join boxing as its getting more recognized in the boxing world.
Laila Ali has been brilliant at her career after her father.

Paul, that's the whole problem with most of these martial arts, they hand out belts like they are going out of fashion; and they all are claiming to be the worlds best etc etc. Too many organisations claiming to be the best and too many posers.
You want a black belt, then I think you reeeeeallly should prove yourself, and if
you cannot throw a punch; how do you gain a black belt?, but the girl you taught had a black belt; it doesn't make sense?

As you know Bren i do MMA now and i love it because its like boxing in the sense, no belts or ego's in training! just use what works and forget the rest! most martial arts train lots of pointless stuff just for the sake of it.
