I was sick of just working a day here and a day there part time. So after going for an interview for a new job and something completely different to what I was doing, I was offered the job.

However, I had a complete panic attack the day before this new job and forced myself to start the following day.

I was completely depressed in there that day, and I didnt show up on day 2.

I feel so ****ty. Now I am unemployed and the future is looking very bleek. Why did I quit, I should have stayed.

You don't explain the history up to the day before the job - is there one? Are there other factors at play?

You sound like you need to talk to someone to help you through the back-to-work process - I understand FAS are offering some assistance along these lines.

    You live, you learn.

Get another one - plenty out there. The trick is to NOT let it get you down and slip into old routines. You got the job in the first place, which means you did something right. Now do it again, but this time you've got the extra knowledge to stay. Chances are you won't be so panicked about it this time round.

    Best of luck.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Don't feel too bad, i lasted one day at a job a few weeks ago and rang them up a few days later saying i wasn't going back!! If you weren't happy, thats fair enough but what was the reason you didn't go back?

    advice?..

go to a councellor....they are cheap enough if you look around...

you need your head sorted before you can start a new job...I know that...and Im sure you know that too...

work is just work.....its for your bread and butter..simple as......

I know your panicing now...but dont..whats the point?..I wont help your situation.....tomorrow go searching for a councellor..you need someone to talk your thoughts out to....

you must have submersive problems obtaining your thoughts....you need to vent them...then you can approach a new job...and just be strong about it...few months down the line you'll laugh back on this...

    trust me..

    ;)

    teddi..

aww dont worry, there must be alot of pressure on you to have to get a job,you sound like you need a break or could do something easier like a fas course or vtos, thats what i did when i was going through a tough time i chose an art course and it was flexible hours,it was great while i had a breather from some past issues which had caught up on me...

i went to therapy as well and im flying now-but i make sure i dont work at anything i dont like doing...therapy teaches you to care for yourself better and to look after your own needs-there are no rules you dont have to work right now-give yourself permission to take a break till you are feeling better... panic and anxiety is caused from pressure you are putting on yourself, you need a positive relaxing enviroment to overcome it-and not care what people are telling you to do around you...

OP what happened that you suddenly freaked out and decided not to go back?

I don't want to make you feel bad, but I can't accept that you went in, had a panic attack and just left forever.

Somethign had to trigger that. Maybe you're seeing someone to deal with it, maybe you're not, but I have to ask for more info here.

if you really liked the job ring them and just see if they would take you back, there is a slight chance. you might have to do some sucking up for awhile to get back in the good books though. if not live and learn and look for a job that wont induce panic attacks.

    Hi OP

Where you 100% sure the job was right for you before you applied for it? It can be very difficult being in a position that you really don't want to be in. So after a day on the job you realized that this was not for you. No problems with that all. As another poster said there are other jobs out there...but make sure you feel it is in your best interests first before you apply for it. Look at it properly, read what kind of a person they are looking to take on, what experiences are required (do you have it?) and will you benefit from it? Also is there room for improvement, IE progression. A good preparation is half the work. Good luck. :)
