I was over in Belgium there for a few days during the week and I came across this beer that is widely sold over there:

(I reckon an aul picture helps! :D)

I'm just wondering if there is anywhere in Dublin that sells it.

Oh tis beautiful stuff that. Only thing I drank while I was over in Antwerp, even robbed one of those massive Maes tankards from one of the pubs!

Never saw it in Ireland though.

As did I! It is currently sitting in my dishwasher as we speak! :D

It's a great beer indeed, goes down so easily.

Ah if you want some proper belgian beer try "Leffe" or "Duvel". It's the best. That looks like a cheap "harp" type beer. Beurk!

Leffe certainly isn't. Most of the range is a pale imitation of some of the Trappist beers, and there are much better abbey beers (those, like Leffe, which use an abbey's name but aren't made in one), like Corsendonk and St. Feuillien.

But then slagging off people's beer choice as not "proper" is a bit rude, isn't it?

It's a pale lager, but the resemblance ends there. It may not be the national speciality, but the Belgians do pils quite a bit better than the Irish. They have a lower tolerance threshold for crap beer.
