Cheap, clean and safe near Gatwick?

I'm trying to book a hostel through Ryanair's Hostel World site, without great success. You can book in *London*, but London's a big place and I don't know it well.

What I'd like to find is a nice clean B&B or hostel near Gatwick, from which I can get to the airport easily and cheaply earlyish in the morning.

Even when I've tried searching for B&Bs, I've found places with rooms that sleep five, and you have to book all five beds. No good to me. I just need a reasonably priced single room.

    Any recommendations?

    Hi,

When I'm flying out of Gatwick, I usually use the Gatwick Worth Hotel. Basic, but very cheap at £45 a night - single room. They collect and drop you off at the airport.

Tried the Gatwick Worth. The price doesn't include breakfast, and I found the staff kind of cold, though perfectly efficient.

The 8am shuttle bus to the airport was full, so the eight of us who'd been defaulted to the 8.15 bus stood and waited. At 8.25 I asked at the desk whether the 8.15 was the same bus as the 8am one or a different bus, and the guy behind the desk said "No, it's a different one," then glanced at the clock, muttered "Oh, ****" to himself and got on the blower.

The bus arrived at 8.30, and I got to the airport just in time.

I won't be staying in Gatwick the next few visits, so I'm looking for a place around Hampstead now - any thoughts, anyone?

Meanwhile, I saw this B&B, which looks nice and is £39 for room *and* breakfast: http://www.theturret.com/
