was driving into town around 6:10 this evening and i swear the wellpark road onto college road was like a river.
The roundabout was a small lake. When i was driving onto lough atalia road where it splits onto college road the water was breaking over my bonnit. My engine started to cut out but thankfully kept going.

It was insanity. but also quite fun.

Not so fun were the sewers back flowing onto the streets down at the spanish arch. not a nice smell.

my estate flooded. it's pretty much on a hill and is damn near impossible to flood. that was quite possibly the heaviest rain shower I've seen in a long while. thankfully it didn't last too long.

    Jeez, that's some quality rain.

That was (is) an insane amount of rain. Was down in Dominick Street when the madness began - the poor bike shop is full of water. By sheer luck the water stopped rising when it was about an inch and a half below the door to Wired - mopping out computers is not fun.

Just arrived back in Sligo - it's just horrible amounts of rain the whole way up, with the added excitement of patches of heavy fog. I liked last month better - can we go back to that?!

We were at a LAN and it got flooded due to the rain :/

Was fairly nasty, roughly 3 inches of water in the room.

That sucks man. Did the electricity stay? Ours flicked off briefly just after the storm had started to die down - cue hysterical gamers screaming at pcs.

We couldn't get out our back door!
I found it so odd watching the Derry and Fermanagh match and they didn't get a drop while the downpour out our back window was something else!

The g/f arrived home around 11:30 last night, and told me there were 2 or 3 crashed between Dangan and Shantalla.

I dropped our housemated into town around 9, and the flooding on Shantalla Road was high when we were going in. Was gone by the time I got back 20 minutes later.

Couldn't get over the amount of drivers almost stopping in the middle of floods; I prefer the "drive it on" approach through floods (less chance of a breakdown!). The corpo had a load of trucks and people down at the aptly named Flood Street trying to clear the drains at around 9pm.

Saw a Garda van escorting 2 tinted VW minibuses and a Range Rover through traffic on College Road (Garda with blue lights, rest with hazards), probably the band, instead of letting poor Westlife face the traffic and the Gardai inside helping with the traffic flow.

Right. There are stickies posted across every single forum on boards.ie informing everyone here of the ban on MCD events. If you post has been deleted, it's because you've spoken about a certain event that we're not allowed to talk about here.

Any further mention of such events, and I'm closing this thread.

Rain must have been bad so! It was pretty awful in Cork yesterday too. The kids in the Irish college I teach in were not happy.

We weren't flooded though! One of the times I was happy that I'm not in Galway anymore!

THe boys wer eall hitting the rivers in kayaks today, paddling rivers that usually take three days rain to rise. There was just the one day's rain in Galway, wasn't there? That shows ya.

Does anyone have any photos online of the floods in Galway that they could post here? I was away for the night, and missed it all.
