    Hey OP,

The main poker tracking software in use is either of

    1- Holdem Manager
    2- Poker Tracker 3

There has bee some debate as to the relative merits of each with my fave being HM however both will do the job just fine. They are relatively straight forward to set up, if you have any issues with setting one of them up then feel free to post your problem in here.

I think it was DVDFAN who posted a really good article about using HM correctly in here a while ago, I will post the link later if somebody else doesn't before me.

I would also recommend datamining, if you are going to be playing on the iPoker network (Paddy power/Green Joker Poker) the Eyepoker is your man as you can also table select and create buddy lists etc.

I would also recommend reading twoplustwo.com anthologies for playing online as it is markedly different to live play.

Bank Roll mangement is also a big consideration. Be aware of you risk of ruin and what your bank roll should be for YOU to be comfortable to move up levels and also, if things don't go to plan, when to move back down.

Lastly, there are deals which can be signed up to which earn extra $$ for you at each month end. There is a bonus whoring thread which again, I will post a link to later if nobody else does b4 me.

Anything else you are wondering about, just post a thread and try to filter out the noise

thanks for the info. in live play i am comfortable playing 25/50 at the most possibly a bigger game if im running **** hot and am halfs with someone. when it comes to going online i think ill start of at the 2/4 game just to get the ball rolling and see where it goes from there. i mean i have played online before but not seriously with this whole setup. someone mentioned to me ages ago that there is a system that you can get which shows ie

    ..this player is strong
..this player will fold to a raise 80% of the time

is this correct? graphs is a big thing aswell. i read fran's blog and the tables he uses are very good. i would like that more than anything as keeping records of everything is essential to me considering its bassically my job. anyway thanks for the feedback and anymore that comes.

Yeah, with the stats programs they will give you generalised information about players but it is much more aggro online than live especially as you move up levels. Perhaps have a chat with some guys who play 200NL+ online like Phantom Lord, Cooker3, k101 etc and I would recommend MSNL on twoplustwo moreso than here as this is mainly a small stakes site tbh, so the level of advice you get here will be from 50NL and 100NL players who have little or no experience at 400NL.

I would also recommend a few sessions with a coach just to get you up and running online would be no harm

a coach is one thing i did think about before to improve my game but it seemed a bit silly. but i now notice that gavin kelly is giving it so i cant see me getting the mickey took out of me. i can more than hold my own live but as you say a few lessons might be good and i know that gavin is a sucsessful online player so ill maybe pm him.

    thanks again

Just keep the brags/beats to this thread and alls good.

Also, if you haven't already, have a read of the charter so you know what's appropriate/inappropriate and save yourself a banning.

This may be of some use also.

welcome to the poker forum.... unfortunately a few undesirables have crept in this last few days but they are starting to get weeded out I believe...

HM is better than PT3 in my experience... but both are good and essential... they both will show player stats on HUD and you can customise them accordingly...

online play is very different to live play as I made that saem move myself a while back... but done properly your hourly rate shoudl be much better online when you get the hang of it due to the number of hands and the ability to multitable...

as already mentioned use eyepoker for datamining or whatever version of it for the site you play... also get a good rakeback deal/bonus and it will help improve hourly rate as well...

    but most importantly... be lucky.....

let us know how you get on and PM me of you need any specific help with setups...

    Mac

2 choices on the graphs... a free program called poker grapher will "grab" the details from your pt database and plot it in a graph...

Hm includes a very good graphing function already... PT3 may also include this... I'm not sure on this one

For the graphs you need to have played some hands ;). Try and google "PokerEV.exe" for a decent free programme. You need your PT database set up first.

PT3 does come with a graph but its pretty basic.

    GL at the tables.

Can you explain this a bit? While PT3 is **** at the moment when it fully up and running would you still see yourself using the both?

Hopefully this will be the first time I will have gotten something useful out of a DBCunt thread.

    hey chucky,

PT3 is still way too buggy for me and IMO shouldn't have been released until these were fixed first....

I've had Hm for a while but had't got around to it due to the beta of PT3 but when I eventually got it set u it's very very good....

It does everything i need it to do and more... the filters and the vs playuers functions along with the graphs are brill and the hh replayer now shows player stats as well which helps a lot... near perfect I think...
