Stepwise treatment

I'm not 100% sure of the terms, but I was at the dentist a few months ago and they gave me a "stepwise" treatment which they said involved a temporary filling to be replaced in 6 months.

The thing is that I've relocated since then so I won't be going back to the same dentist, and as I'm moving again in the near future (between Ireland and the UK), I'm not 100% sure what my circumstances will be since I've heard it's very difficult to get registered with a new dentist in England.

I'm just wondering if it's very important that this gets done within 6 months or would it be a problem if it waited a little longer? Or should I see about getting it done here before I leave (been about 4 months)?
