Guitar strap over both shoulders

I've seen then for sale in Dublin. Have n't got around to getting one though. I suppose they should be better than the ordinary straps as they distribute the weight evenly over both shoulders.

Having said that, I've never seen anyone use one. Dont know why they have n't caught on.

Maybe they dont look cool enough. :D

They look a bit gimmiky to me.

I prefer to use a really wide thick leather strap (4"), much more comfortable as it spreads the load.

Thanks for this! My left shoulder is ****ed so this will really help.

It's an interesting idea, but it looks as if pulls the guitar off center, taking it more to your right from where it would normally hang. I would imagine it could make as many comfort issues as it solves, and make upper fret access more difficult. For comparison:

One of the straps is cutting into his neck in that picture. From the design, it looks like that no matter which way it hangs, its going to be chaffing at least one side of your neck. Actually, the whole thing looks pretty annoying.

But i'll admit ive never used one, so I could be 100% wrong.

Ah I've ordered one anyway, won't have it for month though, getting it sent to my brother in Germany for the free shipping!

I'll give my verdict when it arrives...

    It looks ridiculous though

That looks completely uncomfortable, Looking at the picture has given me a real good idea for a strap though, but I won't be saying it until I patent it :D

    still looks ridiculous

I don't care if it looks ridiculous, it just throws the guitar completely out of position, and alters the angle of your picking hand, it looks like it would take some serious adjustsments just to use a strap like that. I don't think you're going to beat a nice wide comfortable strap any time soon.

QFT. I said it before, and I'll say it again. A nice thick wide leather or even a neoprene strap will work much better. :)

+1. I have the most comfortable wide leather guitar straps at the mo', i definitely can't see myself buying one of these.

What strap is it you have? Where did ya get it?

At moment I have a crappy nylon Fender strap with a shoulder pad I made out of a few hiking socks. So just looking at options.

Actually i picked these up in my local guitar shop, they're a no name brand and were cheap but they're easily the most comfortable i've found, well considering the price.

I'm on the look out for a new 4" strap and to my surprise I could n't find one that size in any of the major instrument shops in Dublin.

I bought them a while ago, and it wasn't even an instrument shop as such, mostly just a music shop, cds and the likes, with about 5 guitars for sale.

Maybe so, but that's only 3". My bass is quite heavy so I'd need wider.

Rigsby, I have the same problem as you. The Aria's are both 11lbs+ each so it's a pain without a good strap. I bought a black 4" wide leather strap last year from Italia Straps and it's wonderful, so comfy and really well made. The best part was opening the packet though, lovely smell. :D

Thanks Dord :) I'll give them a try.

EDIT : Had a quick look. They 're nice straps alright....... but 94 euros shipped..... As far as the lovely smell..... I'd expect a bottle of expensive aftershave included for that price. :D:p

My old strap will do for now.

Thanks again anyway for the link. :)

Haha yeah, they're pricey alright. I got my last year when they had a sale on. 30% off, that was around October. I put a post up on HCBF then. Maybe they'll do another sale in October this year.
