a person asked me to take a look at their lap top that had apparently stopped working.
I took the back off to see was there anything obvious but couldn't see anything burnt or anything. It's totally dead no power going to it at all.
i'm guessing the PSU is shot, however i've no way of testing that theory, how much would a laptop PSU cost, anyone got any other ideas?
    thanks

I'd say your best bet is to contact whoever the manufactuer of the laptop is to find out

does it charge? does anything happen at all when you press on? have you tried removing the battery and just using the charger?

Have you test the charger using a voltmeter to determine if its sending any juice out or not?

is there any led on charger to show if its working... if not you'll need a voltmeter like said above

LED lighting isn't neccessarily a sign that the brick is sending out the correct vlotage, just that it is receiving power. FYI! ;)

yep, but it is the most basic indication that should be there (if the adapter has led), not much point testing with a voltmeter if the led on the adapter is not lighting ;)

usually though the cable on the laptop side of the adapter or the DC socket on the laptop are the points that give trouble.
