I know its a matter of taste and all but dam those guitars strike me as really ugly.

there is no such thing as an ugly guitar i.m.o. If it can make beautiful sounds, surely that's what it's all about.
Mind you I think some guitars are definitely more striking than others, such as versoul blue light special (issue 304 guitarist).... www.versoul.com
