Had a look at the Specs & there was no mention if it supported DVB-T2 or DVB-S2. If spending that sort of money it would be a good idea to try & future proof as best you can. There was a thread on this forum about RTE later switching over to DVB-T2 format as in the UK & equipment becoming obsolete for DVB. I came across This Receiver which covers DVB -T, -T2, -S & -S2. It has all the functions & more of the MVision HD200 & can double up as a PVR also & is ~ €150 extra. I have no experience with these type boxes but I'm also looking into something on this line.

There is simply not tuner with DVB-T2 capabilities on the market. Maybe spring/summer next year.

According to that site, it has DVB-T2 capabilities, it is listed as a brand new product.
Regardless if it's available or not, my original point is not to rush in & try to future proof as best you can.

    That website is wrong.

As maxg said, there are no consumer boxes with DVB-T2 tuners available.

bad time to buy expensive or cheap combo products.

    1) FreeSat dual Tuner HD PVR not out till August

    2) DVB-T2 Q1 or Q2 2009

    3) Irish DTT starts Q1 2009, with tests this Autumn.

What will be different between these tests and the current trials?

The trails aren't really any purpose other than political, they are provided by BT.

The tests will be to test for interference, coverage, aerial/transmitter/feed performance. They may use the BT MPEG2 signals for convenience and only change to MPEG4 when the live service starts.

    Thanks,
Any idea will we have all the stations we currently have or will it just be the 4 FTA ones?
Wiill the current trialists continue to be involved?
Also, are the tests going to be by RTENL?

The trail was a once off contract.

The 1st Mux is RTENL tests. The commercial Muxes? Who knows? It's not decided yet.
