I started a new job this week and we have to take builders holidays which is in 4 weeks time, my question is, what are the chances they'll pay me for them considering I'm only new... Is it at their discresioin or what's the deal?

    Thanks :)

Really depends on one thing really, what is the normal annual leave year - i.e. when do your annual leave entitlements get renewed?

If your annual leave year is Jan - Dec, then you're only entitled to roughly half of the year's entitlements, so about ten days. You should get paid then for two weeks of the holiday and not paid for the rest.

If you leave before the end of the year, they'll be entitled to "claw back" any annual leave paid out which you weren't entitled to.

That is, assuming that the normal procedure is to take it out of your annual leave.

    Really, really depends.

Tecnically you are entitled to 1/8 of worked hours as holiday pay, so you'd be entitled to something.

However alot of companies have a rule that no holiday pay be granted while you are still on probation.

Some companies calculate holiday pay based on proportion of the year you will be with the company for.

It's hard to give a straight answer.
