Just watching a bit of the European golf from Germany. This lad is some talent. 6 under for the day through ten holes and now 2 in front on ten under.

Looks a stick on for the Ryder Cup team and could be a real big player for Europe. Superb golfer.

He's putting together a great round alright. I forgot to sort out my fantasy golf for this week otherwise would have stuck him in  Seems like he's been around longer but it's only his second season. He looks like a great player and seems capable of playing well in America too as he did last week. The sky commentators were saying a few weeks ago that his dad used to encourage him to practise for hours just hitting driver off the deck - seems to have worked. I agree he'll be great to have in ryder cup.

Kaymer seems to building up quite a lead alright, could have 4 or 5 by the end of play.

Just looking at the scores from the Irish Seniors Open there too. 72-year old Bob Charles shot a level par 71 and is tied 5th, beating his age in the process. Amazing he can compete so well at that age, gives us all hope. :)

Yes he's emerging as a very solid player.

At 23 I would previously said he was not ready for Ryder Cup action, but ive been proved wrong, hes playing outstanding stuff....certainly deserves a place in the team ahead of the likes of Casey and Poulter who are playing muck at the minute

Kaymer could emerge as a competitor to Woods......that might sound a bit extreme but I think he has the ability if he works hard.

Slightly premature to say that I would've thought but he certainly looks very talented and one of the best young players in Europe. Seems likely he'll make the Ryder Cup team.

There seems to be a lot more promising youngsters coming from this side of the Atlantic at the moment. Comparing the two potential teams for September is indicative of that. 6 of the current top 10 in the European standings are aged under 30 compared with only 2 in the American list.

Let's hope McIllroy starts to find his game....he's been quiet lately

At the 11th par 5, Kaymer just showed his inexperience.

He was in the rough and 260 yards or so from the green with water to carry. He tried to hit an iron onto the green and found the water. Then he pitched into the water again.

He was 3 shots or so ahead and didn't need to try to do anything other than be conservative.

He just took a triple to loose the outright lead. He was 6 shots clear at the start.

yep, he did his best to throw it away with a 75 but getting into and winning the playoff should mean he doesn't totally lose confidence over it.

He really showed his bottle today, many a man would have completly lost the run of himself after that 8 but he really fought back well to get into the playoff. Great win for him infront of his home fans. He's definitly one for the future.

He needs to learn how to play safe when ahead......he should have won the event in style instead of relying on a playoff.

Casey played very well but couldn't buy a putt.

Casey and Garcia worry me for the Ryder Cup (if they make it) ....... both are excellent tee to green but both are relatively poor putters (we're talking relative to the best).

Garcia is easily the worst putter in the worlds top fifty, honestly he looks so nervous over anything from 6 foot and his stroke decelerates dramatically before impact.

    Poulter is a twat.

Yeah i think its fair to say Poulter is the most disliked golfer on tour, didnt he have an altercation a couple years back with fans/marshalls at the irish open in Carton House?....
On Kaymer, great to see him win yesterday, his tears at the end showed how much it meant to him, couldve seriously damaged his confidence ahead of the ryder cup if he threw it away.....hope he learns from his experience.

Poulter apologised so the issue is dead imo.

Poulter is a legend in his own head.
