thanks ciaran. is the 6000 better than the 6700 or are they basically the same model

think the 6700 is a newer version, i got mine about 18 months ago, only problems with it is battery life doesn't last long but that's mostly my own fault cos i always left it plugged in, not a good idea! can't beat the HP's though, unless you're looking for a fancy laptop for games and graphic design and stuff, but if you just want it for the web and champo manager like me, you can't go wrong! they're quite fast as long as you look after them with anti virus etc

i called again and was told i have to buy from a retailer. basic model is between 5-600 euros goin by the rep. heard pc world are not great to buy from and harvey norman are not much better. maybe someone knows an online source. thanks again

my uncle works for HP so i just got mine from the friends and relatives site, was about €855 off that, think it was about €1000 in shops at that time, i know they've gone down a bit since then. HP do their own online support and stuff once you register it, so u won't really need PC world or Harvey Norman for anything!

forgot to mention that i was told that the 6700 has been discontinued and replaced by the 6800 series. seen this one on laptopsdirect

can anyone review the specs and tell me if its good value?

Yeah, it looks quite good value. My sisters laptop is a similar spec (same processor and ram) and it's pretty fast for what she needs it for.

just felt i had to chip in here about harvey norman, nothing but good things to say about them tbh, i bought a hp 9200 series model off them for €1800 and got them to throw in a brother multifunction device for free (value: €170), couple of months later, the lcd hinge caused the lid to crack when i closed it. brought it back to them and they sent it away to hp, giving me a lend of a display model laptop in the meantime. two weks later no sign of the laptop so they offered me a free digital camera for the inconvenience, which i declined.

two weeks later again they asked me did i want to come in and pick out a new laptop, so i was able to pick out another newer 9500 series model that was valued at €1900! top notch service! :)
