I'd be careful of the 1 inch longer ones......not unless the person is told that they need them.

Personally I like to see clubs "in the metal" before buying so would be inclined to check out McGuirks etc. first then maybe look for the same clubs online. You may even find that there are good deals to be got in McGuirks.

Out of the clubs you posted I don't think a beginner (or a better golfer for that matter) would notice much difference between the 149 quid set and the 200 quid set. If you buy either set you will want to upgrade within a couple of years anyway so you might as well get the cheaper one. Also I don't think there is any need to go for the +1" shafts.

There are a few good packages in American Golf in Tallaght.

Also try second hand sets in a pro shop aswell.

Know someone who bought a set of these just over 2 months ago - like you a beginner - he's flying with them!

I play off approx. 18 (could probably improve alot with more rounds) but anyways - i played a few shots with them and are grand!! ;)

Wilson are a good name. I wouldn't have any doubts about them. Just as long as the people selling them are reliable.

Try get a look at them in a golf shop before you buy though.

    thats an important consideration!!! :o

dont think ill bother with the +1" clubs especially with my first set, if i need them in future i can get them when i get better clubs :)

Bought the Wilson Ultra Comp Set about 6 weeks ago off ebay, i think off the same guy that you've been looking at. Have to say there a great set of clubs, really good grips, the putter is heavyish (which I prefer). All in all, I'm very happy with them and would recommend them.

I am actually. Only really started playing most weekends this year. Before now I'd play maybe 5 or 6 times a year. Before I bought the set of wilson ultra comp I was playing with a set of NOKO Golfs (watch out titleist), started hitting shots i wanted to hit and decided to buy new clubs. Honestly, they are a great set of clubs I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Why dont you have a look at getting a desent second hand set?
If your in any of the golf shops and looking for advise, go to the oldest guy in the shop. some of the young lads havent got a clue. I'm 6 3 and never had to play with longer clubs (maybe i should have being) ah well.

Wilson are a good make. There are better (imo) but they are expensive.

A good second hand set would be a good set for a beginner especially a half set. Try not to buy a 3 or a 4 iron as you probably will find them hard to hit.
