ok so someone gave me a dvd of myself and im looking to rip it off the dvd so i can email it to someone the problem is that for whatever reason when i open the folder(it appears as a folder on the desktop not the usual dvd disc icon) there is nothing in the folder but i can play it with dvd player no problem

as far as i know its in ntsc format and there is also a red circle with a white line thru it on the bottom right of the icon which i think means i have no editing privlidges on the dvd but i can still make copise

any ides how i can rip this off the disc so i can convert it to avi and email it or upload it onto youtube?

    thanks

Give Mac The Ripper a shot. It'll rip it as a video_ts folder. Then convert that to MP4 or whatever you like with Handbrake. Be warned, these processes take a while.

I thought Handbrake would be able to convert it directly?

It can. Mac the Ripper is faster and gives less problems in my experience though. Much of a muchness really since they're both free.

Handbrake, you need to convert the entire Video_ts folder into a single file. It'll do it for you.
