Help prevent a murder: The case of the unbearable whistler

There is a co-worker in my department that I may bludgeon before the week is out.

Generally, I have a high threshold for people and their habits or quirks that seem to annoy others. But I do have one thin point of resistance. There's something about a constantly whistling git that predisposes me to fantasies of violences to quell the pain. This man in particular has calibrated his pitch and shrillness at just the right tenor to make me want to spill blood. He knows that it irritates others but this only seems to make him more defiant.

I have taken several steps to resolve this problem and I am not the only person that has had enough of this daily punishment. Myself and another colleague in our offices have taken it up personally with him. He pretended to listen and care. But it was clear straight away that we would be ignored. We took it up with the supervisor who initially laughed at us but she did speak with him. It's obvious now that he was steamed by this so it's personal now. He has set out to make each day as miserable as possible. He did initially cut down his whistling but he did this in a smarmy fashion where he'd whistle extremely loud and then draw it down when he came near. But now it's louder and more excruciating than ever. He is enjoying it.

I'm going through the process of filing a written complaint. If that doesn't work what should I do? I've maintained my outward composure to this point but I'm through with being diplomatic.

    Punch him in the mouth.
    Well, lower lip.

Make sure he gets a fat lip.
Repeat process until he stops whistling.

Lip damage will only heal. Break his two front teeth. And two front lungs.

Just shove one of those duck calling whistles down his throat. Then whenever he breathes he'll make a weird duck noise. Might entertain you for a few days.

Creative ideas. Too bad he doesn't whistle from that end. I appreciate the suggestions though.

    That's nothing a good lump-hammer couldn't sort out!
    /fantasy

Smirk-jerk (lol) codes dictate that he saves face by
continuing (as he probably sees it), at least for a while.
I'd ignore it for a few days before assembling your group
(or spokesman, if in general view) to tell him that you'd
rather not, but does he think he can hold off on the
whistling and prevent another report going to the boss?
Revealing the aggravation he's provoking will only satisfy
someone like that. I love offices ;)
