N95 Insurance lost->blocked Question

    Hi there,
    My dad lost his Nokia N95 a couple of weeks ago and claimed for it on his insurance for a replacement after tearing the house apart, but managed to find it the other day wedged down between the car seats. So I tried my sim in it and everything works apart from incoming/outgoing calls (sms work). It has obviously been locked out by the insurance.
    Im well aware he has to contact the insurance company as it's their property now but I was wondering if anyone else ever encountered this situation. I want to keep the phone and Im wondering can I offer to pay them for the phone and will they then unblock it? I've fallen in love with the thing, best gadget ever!
    Thanks

    Just looking at his bill here, it says: 'Stay Mobile live! insurance'

    It can be white listed (unblocked), but I'm not sure if the insurance company would allow that indeed I wouldn't be surprised if they asked you to send the phone into them.

    vodafone so. Am might be possible, try ringing vodafone and say what happened, tell them you will pay for it and see what happens, I will try ringing vodafone claims tomorrow when I get into work and see if it can be done(come to think of it I think they are off on Saturdays) and I'll let you know

    it wont work, they placed an equipment identity register bar oon it - as its property of the insurance company they sent you out a replacement phone to take place of the old one, and it cant be reversed - not even if you offer to pay. callsa re blocked - itll probably say call rejected but sms should be ok.

    Pay to get the IMEI scrambled. Then Bobs your uncle.

    who said you can't get phone unblocked so it can be used again. Unless vodafone have some type of retarded system that doesn't allow whitelisting like other networks?

    As for ownership of the device though. . . .

    Technically it is possible to White list the handset meaning it could be used again. However I would think that the insurance company would want to recoup the claim in return for allowing the phone go back into service.
