Ebay remove any counterfeit items ("kock offs" etc) repoted using the VeRO form.

Despite being named after a famous character associated with 40 theives, the site Alibaba.com does not sell knock offs. It sells wholesale direct from manufacturer.

You're partly wrong there, everything and anything legal and not so legal are sold on Alibaba. There are lot of genuine companies but also lots of counterfeit goods and plenty of scammers. GlobalSources is probably where you would find more genuine products.

However common sense will tell you that e.g. Nike, won't sell directly/indirectly to you via some geezer in Thailand or China, so use common sense and you will go ok.
