Web Page hosting / maintenance

    I’m currently working with a web development company on a new web based business idea. The site will be dynamic, with interactive users & will require practically 100% uptime.
    I have no concerns about the web developer regarding the quality of the output. However I’m concerned about the company’s ability to host a live, interactive website guaranteeing maximum uptime. The company is relatively new & as far as I can see its developments to-date have been on what I would call “static” web-sites supporting a current business (ie. Hotels, Shops etc). My idea is different as the business is based on the web & will require users to log in & interact 24x7.

    I’m not a techie. What questions / services / guarantees should I be seeking from this web development company?

    Typically how much does web hosting & maintenance work out on a monthly basis?

    Its not actually that technically difficult. A static website can have the same problems.

    Web Hosting has become really cheap, Ive got excellent shared hosting for around €3 per month but this would be for low volume traffic.

    Will you be getting a dedicated server or shared server? How many hits per day do you expect? Is the content of the site large in terms of "bandwidth" (ie does it have a lot of data/pictures etc.?
