Just got my exam results for my coll's summer exams and they were horrible!
I failed in 3 out of 5. 2 out of 3 just borderline fail (will recheck those but still got little faith anything good will come out of that). And so this all comes upto 7 exams for me to do over the summer (first week of sep to be precise!).
    And this really really sucks!

Whats worse is that although i know i'm well capable of passing all of my exams rather finely (i made it into med school for **** sake!) but now after failing these many exams (especially these ones which i really sorta studied for), i've been starting to feel really incompetent! I don't know if i can make it though med school anymore. (i know i'm capable of but its these horrible results that are making me feel this way...) And all of this just adds up to my dislike of this college i'm in!

Well now i do have a weak reason for why i failed these exams and its simply cuz i didn't study for them which i've got a reason for too and i can very easily blame it on my ex! (i know its easy to blame your crap on others!). But well, i was a screwed up kid all of the beginning of this year trying to find my way and find out if i really wanted to do what i'm doing and all that. I was a mess, it was a horrible year!

So well, i'm more in shape now (well mentally atleast). But i just don't know. I feel crap. I feel horrible. I feel absolutely incompetent and don't know if i can manage to get through med school. But i really can't drop out! I just can't!!
I've got **** loads to study over the next 2 months. Its not gonna be easy. I've lost my summer break. I haven't herd of anyone who's repeated 7 exams and manage to pass them all. I don't know if i can do that myself! This is freaking horrible!!! I've gotta do it! Its like a do or die thing. But i just don't know if i'll be able to...

OK lass, listen up, first and foremost, college exams are not the most important thing in the world, and repeating a year isn't like a big black stain on your CV. I got my results there yesterday and i have a repeat, first time ever for me, and i'm in 3rd year of college in a bloody hard course. one of the guys failed everything and he's going repeat them in september. so if you think you have it bad, he has a few million lines of code to overview. For ONE subject. and the other 4 are just as bad.

As for your summer break, if you properly budget your time you can still have a good time :D

If you put your mind to it, i know ya can pass it. the fact you got into med school, thats a serious achievement, so you obviously know your stuff.

Expecting to hear good things from ya in a few months ;)

Well at least you've identified part of the cause of the failure, thats step one. If you capable enough to get into the course, you should be capable enough to apply yourself and achieve positive results, it really is as simple as that.
Aside, my own sister failed 7 exams in first year and 4 in second year, but passed them all on the repeat. Shes out of college now nearly 5 years, and finished with a 2.1. It can be done, you will just need to make sacrifices. None of this "Ill study for the last two weeks before the exams business". Get to work now, identify the problem questions arrange to meet with your lecturers/tutorial guides and work through them. Dont even think of dropping out just cause you feel disheartened.

Remember, Fail to prepare - Prepare to Fail!

What you have to do is make a study plan and sit down and make sure you keep to it. You should encompass time off into the schedule for the sake of your sanity- but determination and persistence are going to have to be applied here. I failed first year in college many many moons ago, and had to repeat 7 subjects. It wasn't easy- I thought it would be impossible. Despite all this I ended up with an honours degree, and am now working in a relevant field (having also done a second undergrad degree and numerous postgrad qualifications in the process).

Its easy to make excuses and to feel depressed, annoyed and fedup over the situation- but seriously, you are going to have to focus, make an action plan and stick to it. Its very possible to put the work in and to get good grades come September- but it does require perseverance........

    Good luck!

make a deal with yourself. put the head down and focus, its only 2 months away. make a structured study plan and stick to it. remember to allow some fun time or you will go mental. the deal is if you study well and pass that you will never allow yourself to get in this situation again. you have tasted how foul this situation is and it will be a good motivator for you for the duration of the course.

    best of luck

OP - its good that you're annoyed you failed
What I would do is use this energy to pass, stick up the results on the wall and have a good long look at them each day - so you keep motivated
the hardest part is the time sitting studying while longing to do other things

looking at the failure, will make you not want to repeat that, and keep you on track as to why You will be studying on nice sumer days

It will be difficult but its down to discipline - You can do It!

(and yes I know first hand how boring study is and interesting everything else is - I've spent the last 10 years studying on stop for various qualifications)

    Sorry couldnt resist:p

But yes, relaxation time is important, but let it be proportional to the size of the task that you are hoping to complete. You could treat the study like a job, and put in 9-5 hours everyday (with a break @ 10 oclock and @1 oclock). Then a couple of hours at the weekend.

Thanks for the support and motivation guys.

I've always lived on believing that well "if anyone can't, doesn't matter, i can still do it" and "impossible is nothing", if i put enough effort and time on it i'll can do anything.
Though thats exactly where i've been failing.
Getting to spend the time and effort on it.
Over the past year the most i've studied for an exam was for 3 days before the exam. Yeah, thats it. Well i am pretty efficient when i study though as i do manage to get as much done in 2 hours as a lot get done in 6. But then its the amount of or the lack of the amount of study i do which has bought me down. For the first semester i did absolutely zero study and yeah i failed miserably. For this semester i studied 2 days before each exam and managed to pass just 2 out of 5. This is my problem. I need to get myself to study throughout the year.

Well, i guess this summer should be good to get my head screwed back on properly. Hopefully it should be able to teach me to study everyday while having time to do other things i like too.
Hmm... a lot of talking. Gotta see how well i manage to do this. Its something i always decide on doing but always fail to follow through. But this time i've gotta do it. I can't carry on in my coll the way i am doing right now... Its just gonna keep taking me down.

Oh and yeah, lol at the metal thing!!
But yeah, thanks for the replies!

Well i have been preoccupied with many things over the year. Its pretty much why i performed so poorly over the year.
I've had an annoying ex, then i lost interest in doing medicine while i was getting more inclined towards my music. And so i ended up spending more time on my music than studying my coll stuff. But then now i realise how it ws all a big waste of time cuz i didn't get any music done neither did i manage to pass my exams. I was just distracting myself all along. Need to get all that sorted out asap first!!
