Plugged one of them hand held computers into my car last night and it showed up a fault "Throttle position actuator v60" . Anyone any ideas to what it is and how to fix it?

Do you have cruise control? I assume it's the part that pushes open the throttle to accelerate the car.

The throttle position sensor (TPS) on the other hand, is the part that "tells" the ecu how far open the throttle is (i.e. how far the accelerator is pressed).

    Nope no cruise control..

Guess it's the throttle position sensor so, it should look something like this

Try plugging the TPS out of the harness and run the diagnostig again. If it shows up another totally different fault then the TPS and the Throttle Position Actuator is something else!
What did ya scan with, VAG Com?

V60 is the designation for the motor that operates the Throttle Positioner. It sounds like a fault in the motor, but this could be down to a dirty throttle body.

Did the diagnostic tool give an indication of the nature of the fault - i.e. Open Circuit, Implausible Signal, Adaptation Limits Exceeded, etc, etc?

    Hi there

Just gonna "borrow" your thread, Vain, hope it's okay. I get the same fault code from my VW Polo (6N) when scanning with VAG-COM:

Control Module Part Number: 036 906 014 BM
    Component and/or Version: MARELLI 4CV 3149
    Software Coding: 00031
    Work Shop Code: WSC 00788
    1 Fault Found:
    00282 - Throttle Position Actuator (V60)
    26-10 - Output Open - Intermittent

Any ideas how to fix this?

Manufacturer and version of the ECU.

    Self explanatory.

The code number of the workshop that last reprogrammed the ECU. Each VW dealer (worldwide) has a unique code.

Unless you have a loose connection, it sounds like a fault within the throttle body - try clean it out first and see if that makes any difference - but usually a dirty throttle body returns a throttle angle fault, or "adaptation limit exceeded".
