Where to get a Lomo

Hey all, just wondering if anybody can recommend a place to get a Lomo.
The ones from the UK on ebay seem pretty reasonable but there are a good few much cheaper ones available in HK. Just a little worried about getting stung by customs.
Or should I buy from the Holga website?

    Any thoughts experiences appreciated.

You won't get stung by customs from the UK, so don't worry about that, it's in the EU.

I bought my Holga from HK. The seller put toy camera on the label, and i didn't get charged import.

Yeah seeing it in Urban Outfitters is what prompted this whole thing.
I know I won't get taxed for EU stuff, but they're twice the price of the HK ones.
For the guys who got it from HK who did you use, if you can remember?

    Cheers all.

If when you say LOMO you talk about the LC-A, I could help you. If you mean Holga, is not from LOMO, although is sold by the lomography.com guys (overpriced etc).

I do buy broken LOMO LC-A cameras and as a hobby repair them. At the moment I am about to finish 2 of them (both serviced, they just need light seal replacement to be done, which is the most timeconsuming part).

Contact me if you are interested.

Right, sorry I meant a Holga, is it just me or do a lot of people get the two mixed up?
I thought that the LOMO was a model of camera made by Holga, guess not.

LOMO is a brand from Leningrad (St. Petersburg) which produced several models of cameras, amongst them the LC-A. Which was embraced later on by lomography.com and turned into a merchandised product which is the flag product for their campaigning. The LC-A is made in metal and heavy plastic (at least the original model, not the chinese one made by the Lomography people) with proper light sensor and control, a lens group and the works. It uses (1)35 film.

The Holga, instead, is a made-of-plastic toy camera from Hong Kong, with no mechanics other than a shutter that functions with a spring and is not reliable (rust makes the shutter speed go longer). The focusing is shacky, the lens is made of plastic and it might have heavy light leaks. It uses 120 film. But hey, I love it. Almost as much as the Diana.

The Holgas are around E80 in Urban outfitters at the moment, pretty much the same price as getting one from the Uk on ebay.
They have a RED one ooooohhhhhhhh :)

    Cheers for the explanation
