    A friend has a Fiesta at work . Its a 99 model .

She was saying that the light(on the dash) which indicates a door is open ,is constantly on even though doors and boot are all closed.

Has anyone know what could be the cause ?.

Mite seem like a small thing but shes doing the driving test next week , can anyone advise if this will be ok ?

    Thanks All

Any warning lights on the dash will fail a driving test, no matter what they are. So it won't be OK.

I'd suspect theres a broken switch, if you could find which switch it is it could possibly be removed; or a replacement might be easily got in a scrapyard.

Sounds like a faulty switch in the door itself, open all the doors and you see a switch on each door that activates when the door shuts, one of them is probably stuck, take out the switch and spray it with some WD40.

Believe its on the requirements sheet you get when you get your test date. Any warning lights indicate a possible safety problem with the car, so you're not allowed out. A door warning light stuck on means you don't know for sure all your doors are actually closed.

Thats what i was thinking, but a google result threw up that the fiesta uses microswitches in the hinges for the warning light. The pin switches are only for the cabin light apparently.

Now it doesn't mention the year of manufacture of the fiesta, but might be relevant to the OP.

Would this switch be on the door itself or on the sill part ?

Fella I used to work with left his battered 92 Fiesta at home for his driving test, took his mams shiny new Golf instead.

I think it was the ABS warning light that came on as he was driving into the centre and the tester refused to take him out, and that was back in the good old days of 24 month waiting lists for driving tests.

so something like a service reminder light would be ok.

No idea about that. Its not a safety warning light, per se (whereas a door open one is). Still turned it off on a friends car for him when he was doing his test and hadn't had it serviced, just in case.
