    HI guys,
I'm a bit confused and really need you're opinions. I went for an interview on friday 2 weeks ago. The interview went really well and went on for just under 90 mins.at the end of the interview they said " you should be hearing from us again later in next week but don't be surprised if its sooner". Then last Tuesday I got a call from there HR person out of the blue to tell me that they had 1 more person to interview, the person was to be interview on the day she called me but it got pushed forward to Thursday, and that I wasn't too worry because " your the best candidate so far and we received brilliant feedback about you from the interviewers". I still hadn't heard anything after that phone call so yesterday I called them and they said that on Monday they meet a couple more candidates and that the TL hadn't made up his mind yet but should do on Thursday(tomorrow). My questions are, why did they call me out of the blue and say that? after the phone call last Tuesday I thought I had it in the bag but now I'm not so sure. I really REALLY want the job. What do you guys think?

    Thanks :)

If you haven't heard anything by late Friday morning, then give them a call.

I'm going to call them tomorrow cuz they said to call back Thursday as the TL should have made up his mind by then. But what does anyone think of what they said to me?

unless you are sure you don't want the job as the saying goes ' don't cut off your nose to spite your face'!

it is very very unprofessional to have said that to you and unethical of the company as they hadn't even interviewed everyone - having said that take a few deep breaths, call them and see what they say.

    Let us know!

I think they are trying to keep their options open - getting you to think that you probably have the job so you're less likely to take another offer while they dither.
I think it's probably true that you are the best candidate so far but also that they are hoping someone better turns up while they keep you dangling. You probably have a good chance of getting it.

I'd be inclined to think this is the case. It's very unprofessional of HR and they've played their hand so remember this if you get the job and negotiate a good salary.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Just to let you they contacted me and I didn't get the job they decided to " go down the graduate route" rather than hire someone who already works in the industry.

sorry to hear that - something will come up - take onboard all the positives they gave you from the interview and take it into subsequent interviews - you are obviously bright and competent and come across well - a good job is around the corner for you!

    Best of luck!!!

    I.E. go for someone cheaper.

Chalk it up parsonsr, from what you said they sounded like complete messers in the first place.

Contact them, explain you've been offered another position and have to make a decision by X date, if they want you, you'll get the job.

Put yourself in control of the situation, you make the rules!

Otherwise they are messers, and it probably won't be worth it, move on!

Sorry to hear that. It was bad form in the first place to say anything like your the best so far etc, without giving you a definite answer straight afterwards.

had someone say the same to me a few months ago, "we've one more to see but you're the better one so far. they then hired "someone more experienced" i heard that as someone that will work for less
