    Hello

I am looking for sword based martial arts club based in Dublin.

I have been fencing for about 7 years and am interested in different sword techniques. I would prefer the sport to be sparring rather than exhibition based but I am interested in any club at the moment.

What such clubs do we have in Dublin?

    Thanks

Bujinkan is your one-stop shop for Japanese sword training.....However we don't do the sport/sparring thing but rather how a Katana/tachi/Daisho would be used in a battlefield situation and/or as used in self-protection... not "duelling" as in Kendo. Believe me, you wouldn't do the stuff they do in Kendo with an actual 3 ft razor blade. Then again if you're into duelling Kendo would compliment fencing rather well I'd say.

Also our sword training is generallly integrated with other weapons/unarmed but we do spend dedicated classes/seminars on it periodically. Best thing to do is drop into a dojo and mention your interest is sword. I recomend the Rathmines club as the instructor(mine) there is particularily interested in sword training OR my dojo in Liberties because I'll be teachig it from beginner level soon.

    Rathmines Bujinkan... www.happobiken.com
    The Liberties............ www.bujinkanjiyu.com

If the locations don't suit.. I may be able to point to other clubs.

(My mother was in the Irish Olympic fencing squad years ago by the way!)

    Hi

Thanks to everyone for their help. Both Kendo and Bujinkan look great. It all depends on which one is easier for me to do.

I have also come across a martial art called Shinto Ryu. What are your opinions on this and are there any clubs in Dublin?
