    Hi all,

Im on the lookout for a ford cortina mk3.Dont mind doing some work on it.Have been fixing and servicing cars and tractors for years. My dad passed away just before christmas and had a viynal top brown cortina something like the one in life on mars but i reckon it was late 70s or early 80s.Was thinking of trying to trace it to see what happened to it.I have the reg no so must see if i can.Thaks in advance for any advice.

ps late 70's would be mk4 and early eighties mk 5

mk3's are getting dear...mk5's can still be got fairly cheaply in great condition...mk4's are a bit rare now...but they are cheap tax (mostly...)

    thanks carchaeologist,

Just wondering if it would be possible to trace the car to see where it ended up.I know there is probably no chance of finding it and that it was probably scrapped.

WWW.CARTELL.IE will give all the registered owners and when it was last taxed for a fee of 15eu,as long as the car was taxed until after 1993,as they changed the registation system then to sheets instead of ye olde log books and i think everything went computerised then also so records for earlier cars that were scrapped prior to this wouldnt be on the system,i wouldnt hold my breath though, its more than likely scrapped, the old cortina tended to rust readily if neglected...

Also, the Ford Taunus Mk. 5 equivalent was manufactured in Turkey by Otosan until 1994!
