Just saw that a trailer for this has been released.

For those who haven't heard of it, it's the up-coming film from David Fincher starring Brad Pitt, who plays a man who ages backwards.

Must say the trailer looks fantastic, visually stunning and has a very eerie feel to it. Brad Pitt as a pensioner looks quite remarkable and there's also some scenes of an aged Cate Blanchett in there too.

With Fincher directing, I'm sure this will be terrific.. just as both previous Fincher/Pitt collabs have been.

Trailer: (or much better HD version here)

What can you say, Fincher is a genius in my eyes and this one has greatness written all over it.

Along with Christopher Nolan, The Coens, Tarantino and Spike Jones one of the few filmakers working today who no matter what Ill have my arse rooted to the cinema seat come premiere day.

Cant wait for this and it looks even better than I had hoped for.

Fincher alwas manages to make Pitt up his game considerably, this looks promising. Possibility of Pitt and Jolie both winning Oscars next year, then...

Looks great. Fincher is one of my favorite directors too. Cant wait!

    how does he start?

Aging backwards? Not quite sure, haven't read the book.

But it would appear from the trailer that he was just born old, and got younger from there, and there wasn't actually a particular thing that caused it as such. We'll see!

    View here!

Great cast, nice use of music and about as far from a typical David Fincher film as you could get.

Looks very interesting to say the least. Looks likely to be released here late December or early 2009.

I'm sure you meant to put it in the thread already on the front page so I did it for you :)

    Errrrr.. yes, I did! :o

Sorry, it was on top of AICN headlines so assumed it was hot off the presses. But it's not the first time they'd be a day late with news stories / trailers.

    Sorry bout that!

I think what he meant, and what occurred to me too, is that if he started off old, how did his mother give birth to a fully grown man?

[edit] oh wait theres a clip of the baby in the video. Guess its just a freaky old baby that gets bigger and then starts getting younger?

I'm a big Fincher fan myself (except for "Panic Room") and once more he's given me a movie to look forward to. It looks genuinely intriguing and fantastic - no surprise that they're aiming at the Christmas market.

I was going to forgive you but then I see you read Harry's site - unforgivable! Permaban! :D

[OT]AiCN have some great interviews and their TV (coaxial) coverage typically weeds out the unimportant stuff from some of the more littered TV news sites.

Though their movie coverage can be quite lacking alright.. not to mention they'll put up any review praising a movie months before release... only to half 98% of the talkbackers say 'PLAAANNNT!!'[/OT]

And I actually somewhat liked Panic Room. definitely Fincher's weakest but it's enjoyable enough for the most part. And I actually picked up the 3 disc special edition recently

    Seven Years in Tibet?

    Meet Joe Black?

    Ocean's Twelve?

He's done plenty of bad films, but none with Fincher

those films weren't great but they weren't disasters. there no batman and robin in there to compare him to his mate.

His mate who has an Oscar :p

Incredible trailer, I really hope it breaks out - the budget is insane for this type of film ($150m). Pity its out the same day as Valkyrie in the states, after seeing both their new trailers they both deserve success

i've been intrigued by this film since i first read about it a long time ago.. big fan of most of fincher's work (even panic room had its moments) and i think this movie is gonna be special

Looks fantastic and I cannot wait to see this film.

With Zodiac I think Fincher made an underrated classic and one of my favourite films of the last ten years. I can't wait to see what he does in the future.

David Fincher has been my favourite director since I saw Fight Club in the cinema. Granted he hasn’t the body of work behind him like other directors but man, does he have a great vision and visual style, and can underplay it too with greats like Zodiac. Just check out directors like Tony Scott who is all style over substance most of the time even when it is unnecessary, playing up to the MTV style of editing.
Benjamin Button looks great too. Early feedback from test screenings say it still needs a bit of work in the editing dept, too long. I’ve full confidence in Fincher to reign it in properly and form a film of great quality that hopefully will be a classic.

People said the same about Zodiac and that certainly didn't need any cutting in my opinion :)

Exactly, rough cuts are going to include as much footage to give the audience enough rope to work with to decide what threads should be kept and what should be cut. Doesn't always work but Fincher will pull it off. Can't wait to see the result.
