Where do they go from here ? Warning Contains Spoiler
After seeing the ending last night i am a bit surprised, I was hoping that the fleet would arrive on earth at the present day and see how the whole thing would pan out, for one there would be so many angles the writers could approach this from. How they would make first contact, How they interact with earth people, How would the earth people deal with the skin job clones etc. To say the end was crap is an understatment. The whole lead up to it was great but this feels like the same sort of ending to season two or was it season one, when the fleet tried to make a new home on that planet they found. From what i can see they are in a similar position and the destroyed earth is simalar to that barren planet. What are we going to see for the remainder of the series, the frackin skin jobs and the fleet population build a civilisation starting of with steel hut and so on, Well that seem so "BORING", COME ON PEOPLE WHAT U THINK ?

    The ending was awesome.
I personally would have hated if it was modern day (or any other time for that matter) when they arrived.

The "all this has happened before and will happen again" theme that has been running through is that we on Earth originally created Cylons. There was a war and mass wiping out of the human race (exactly like the 12 colonies). The survivors went off and founded the 12 colonies and since they knew humans would once again become lazy and create AI to do things for them they created the religion and all the signs etc to eventually get back to Earth. The final 5 Cylon's are the only ones left over from the original ones created by Earth who realised after the long war that the killing and fighting was pointless (much like the Cylons and Humans are figuring out now) so they faded into the background until they were needed to get back to Earth.

I imagine the direction the show is going to take now is the current humans and Cylons figuring the above out, there'll probably be a conflict between the Cylons and Humans again, blaming each other etc. but in the end they'll decide to work together to build a new colony. And it'll all happen again.

Why bother watchin the rest of it so if u already know the outcome. Seems like a waste of time reinacting more cylon human infighting, We have already gone through this over the past few seasons. If there end up doin what u suspect, then will it will be a lackluster run in. Why not have them arrive at earth, then have the reble cylons right behind and attack the earth when they arrive and start a new cylon fleet battle with the help of the G W Bush band of merry men, thus expanding the war on terror to space ?

did they really find earth? all we saw was some green and blue no sign of the continents, could this be some outpost just another pointer to earth.
they do seem to take somethings from the old bsg and useit as a rough guideline

    use ****ing spoilertags

The spoiler warning should be in the thread title rather than in the posts themselves. Otherwise, we're going to have to highlight the entire thread to read it and that's going to get annoying fast.

Anyway, they could all kiss and make up, then go and live on the Cylon homeworld :) Or return to the 12 colonies if the atmospheric radiation has settled.

They build the biggest pub ever, and they lived happily ever irradiated.

I'm expecting some sort of human presence on Earth and the return of the other half of the cylon divide.
Also I'm starting to think Apollo is the one in the body bag.. that'd certainly be a shocker.

    What Body Bag ?

^Well now, that should definitely have been spoilered.

    ----

Anyways, I figure the rest of the show will be about the Colonials + Rebel Cylons finding some sort of clue pointing in the direction to another planet or place or afterlife (the scriptured Promised Land?), all the while on the run from Brother Cavil's Cylons. Presumably, there will be another 3rd party / Cylon God, etc... at this end place.

Yeah, +1. I don't understand what the f*cking confusion with when to use spoiler tags is.

there is no spoiler waring in the title, are the users who are posting without them being banned from BSG?

Its a thread titled "Where do they go from here?" yeah there's no warning, but what did you expect the thread to be about? and this episode has aired, so any talk about it is not a spoiler, I have added tags to my mention of the promo as I forgot to. That all said, OP please add spoiler tags to the TITLE! or this thread is useless.

Anyway back on topic, does anyone else think they will run into surviving humans on Earth? I'm sure they'll explain what happened to Earth somehow, I'm leaning towards mankind destroying itself, all this has happened and will happen again and all that... mankind is destined to destroy itself but I have a feeling it'll be a bit more than simply us nuking each other :)

In the promo for season 4 aired after the final episode, Adama can be seen crying over a closed body bag.

We're all assuming that the story is taking place either now or in the near future.

What if it's not? Glen A Larson is still a contributing producer (creative consultant maybe?) so.....

Chariot of the Gods was his original inspiration for the show, indeed the original opening monologue was "there are those who believe that life here began out there" and we all know that the names of the 12 colonial systems area version of the signs of the zodiac. So, they arrive here, and they in fact are our ancestors, and all that remains today of their civilisation is the names of the systems and the constellations as we see them being roughly where each one of the 12 systems are. Somewhere along the time line, due to their small numbers, they dwindle and reach a stone age nadir but eventually re-ignite and here we are today.

It also explains how there was a 13th tribe here before them who have died out or destroyed in some way without modern day us being the 13th tribe.

Interesting idea, but then that would mean we didn't evolve on earth, that sound like evangelical talk to me :P

I doubt they'll go with that approach, cause how could we not find the remnants of a civilization that nuked itself?

No no no, i understand why there should be spilers for those who have not seen the last episode. My problem is talking about the orginal bsg without spoiler tags that ruined the season 2 episode called pagasus for me and i hope the post in this thread is wrong (about the orginal bsg spoiler (the post that has since been deleted posted by mac 39 i quoted it and have since added spoiler tags since i saw it was deleted (3rd post))))

Well, thats the very notion that gave Glen A Larson the idea in the first place. (that we're descended from aliens!) I wonder if the original idea for the Galactica 1980 show was that they turn up to start our civilisation off and this was changed at the behest of Universal?

Would have been alot better than scouts with super powers anyway.
