I want to go on holidays with my other half next summer around Europe. I looked into Oriental Express - too pricey, then I looked into Inter-railing and that confused me

I'd like to go travelling to different places like Italy but visit the different cities there etc

I'll only have just finished my 1st year in college come next year so I want something safe etc that wont put me off holidays and will reassure the parents :pac:

    Anyone any ideas?

Well, there's the tried and trusted route of the J1 but I presume you'll only be about 19 and it's getting harder and harder to get work over there for the Summer. Plus it's expensive to organise.

How long were you thinking of going for? A month? You could fly to France say and then use Ryanair or trains to travel overland within Europe. I'd recommend picking a smallish area or part of a country and exploring that. There's no reason why you can't fly to Rome say and out of Venice and make your way overland between the two.

What was it about the idea of inter railing that confused you? All you do is buy one ticket that does you for all trains and you simply use the train network to go between various places you think you'd like to visit.

Man that is confusing, I'm going to have to go lie down now. :p
