    Hey all,

    Starting a research masters soon and am looking for a laptop to aid that. It'll be mainly for c/c++/c# gui stuff. Will be nearly exclusively for that, so gaming etc isn't a big concern. Have the following in mind and am wondering what peoples opinions are:

    Lenovo 3000 N200

    * Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 / 1.5 GHz ( Dual-Core )
    * RAM - 1 GB (installed) / 3 GB (max) - DDR II SDRAM - 667 MHz - PC2 5300
    * Hard Drive - 120 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm
    * Operating System - Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    * Screen - 15.4" TFT active matrix 1280 x 800 ( WXGA ) - 24-bit (16.7 million colours)
    * Optical Drive - DVD-Writer - integrated
    * Graphics - Intel GMA X3100
    * Bluetooth - Yes
    * Notebook Camera - Integrated - 1.3 Megapixel
    * Warranty - 1 year warranty

    Price: €699

    I would definitely upgrade the RAM myself but what about the rest? Any opinions?

    Cheers

    Great laptops. Had the N100 myself recently, just sold it on adverts. To be honest, it's all you need, so it's fine. But as I'm sure others will point out also, you can probably get a better spec'd laptop on dell for less.

    One thing in favour of the Lenonvos though, the build quality is great, and she can really take a beating!

    Yeah, I had a Dell a while back and it wasn't the greatest in build quality...

    Would installing 3 gigs RAM be a bit overkill do you reckon?

    Probably, but not if you plan to stick with Vista as your OS, it eats ram for brekkie, lunch and dinner! If you're downgrading to XP, which most would recommend, 2 gigs would be plenty.

    Available on ibood today.

    Actually the one on Ibood appears to be a superior version, with 2gb instead of 1gb ram, and T7250 2ghz processor. Excellent deal!
