Radio with bluetooth headphones

    Hi

I was thinking of getting a SE W890 and a pair of the Sony stereo bluetooth headphones. But will the radio work with these? Usually the earphone cable acts as an aerial I think.
Also, are the Sony bluetooth stereo headphones any good?

    Thanks

    Dave

Antenna is most likely built in. Nearly all of the mobiles with radio do it that way as to not rely on the headphones...

    what??????
Correctly phrased: "check specs - antenna might be built in; BUT NEARLY ALL phones with radio use headphones wire as antenna as to not cause interference and save on space in the case"!!

ALL Sony Ericsson phones use the headphones as the antenna as it gives the best reception.

I can check on my K850i if you can listen to the radio over bluetooth (i.e. you will still need to have headphones plugged into phone) but im 99% sure that it doesnt work :(
The way I have gotten around this is to listen to the radio via a Java application on the phone,(this requires an unlimited/large data tarriff)

    I have the SE HBH-DS970

I get about 4 to 4.5 hours battery life from it, so thats one thing to watch, streaming bluetooth eats the battery a lot more than bluetooth for phone calls.
It quiets good, I like the display so that when your out running you can see whos calling you, and the buttons are quiet good too

The Motorola S9 looks nice too, but dont go too much by the battery life that they are quoting I would say.

CW have them for 80e (i think)

Say what? So you need headphones plugged in to the phone to act as an antenna and then use your bluetooth headphones to listen to the music? Something seems wrong there...

Correct, you cant use the radio on an SE phone without the headphone cable plugged in, so you will need to do that first.
Then you turn on bluetooth on your bluetooth headset, if you hear the radio on
your bluetooth headset it works,if your hear nothing it doesnt.

Ok just tried it on my K850i and you cant listen to the radio, all the audio(radio/mp3) goes through the wired headphones, except for phonecalls.

What SE needs to do is put an option in the radio for Send to Bluetooth, so you can listen to radio over bluetooth. There is an option to turn on the speaker.

Thanks for checking that, at least I know what I am getting. A real pity though, I was hoping to ditch the wired headphones altogether.

Billbond4, what is the java app that you use to stream radio? that might do the job for me. I was planning to switch to Vodafone and get the 250mb data plan, approx how much data does the radio streaming consume per hour. I only want it for a couple of hours a day, in and out to work really.

Yeah its a pity, I wouldnt mind even plugging in the headphones and listening through bluetooth.

Its called MFradio, 250 mb should be ok, it depends on kbps of the radio station your listening to.
If you get the W890, PM me and I can send you list of radio stations I have for it.
