So I have decided to buy a new PC. My current one is basically struggling to keep up with current games, and older ones too tbh. I have these specs at the mo:

    AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2ghz
    Radeon 9800 Pro
A 160G Maxtor Diamond Max Hard Drive
    1 Gb of Corsair Ram

I also have a 15" Dell CRT monitor and a monster of a Thermaltake case thats extremely loud.

That was my first build and I don't plan on making the same mistakes again. I've been researching this a bit and have come up with the following list of components from www1.hardwareversand.de.

Coolermaster Dominator Xcalade (CM690) ohne Netzteil schwarz
    62,51 €
    ATX-Netzteil Corsair TX650W 650 Watt
    65,63 €
    4096MB-Kit GEIL Black Dragon PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL4
    83,39 €
    Rechner - Zusammenbau
    19,99 €
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 boxed, 8192Kb, LGA775, 64bit, Kentsfield
    147,37 €
    Club3D 8800GTS, 512MB, NVIDIA Geforce 8800GTS, PCI-Express
    157,93 €
    Samsung SyncMaster 226CW, 22", 2ms, DVI
    262,31 €
MS Windows Vista home premium 64bit Englisch
    75,41 €
    Samsung SH-S203D bulk schwarz
    21,89 €
    Samsung HD501LJ 500GB 7200,16 MB Cache
    58,49 €
ASUS P5N-E SLI, Sockel 775 nForce 650SLI, ATX
    28 €

    Total Cost: €1,022.20

I think I have everything and if I don't, or if you have any suggestions, please tell me.

And can you tell me, will this run the latest games at pretty much highest detail, even on my 22" screen? Also, will it be future proof for the next 3 years?

    Thanks for your help.

Very nice, you've obviously done your homework

My only advice would be to wait on reviews for the HD4850/HD4870

I'd possibly say the 8800 might be outdated soner than 3 years (but possibly the way it's over over the last couple of years it could be ok...)

    Just a thought :)

Nice build though - i might copy most of it..:)

If you want to futureproof, then my advice would be to get that dell on bargain alerts for €160 ( sell your own for similar amount or bit less :D ) and stick 2gigs of ram and a HD3870/ 9600gt into it..

    CORSAIR 2GB PC2-5300 €34

    http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/583190/art/corsair/pc2-5300-vs2gb667d2-valu.html

    SAPPHIRE Radeon HD3870 512 MB €107

    http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/1176298/art/sapphire-technology/radeon-hd3870-512-mb-ddr3.html#tech-specs

Will come to €300, leaving loads for the new Intel Nehalem cpu's coming at christmas which will need totally new motherboards, you could probably get your €300 back again by selling the dell at that time, giving you a free pc for the last 6 months..

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I have a few questions though.

Will this computer be relatively silent? On my current machine the fans are very loud and don't want a repeat!

Can what is the deal with TV tuner cards and watching TV on your PC. Can you watch anything or is it just a select few stations?

Now this may be a ridiculous question, but can you hook up a console to a desktop monitor? You see currently I have a CRT television and it is taking up a lot of space and thought it would be pretty handy to hook up my 360 to my new monitor.

And finally, a minor question, regarding the DVD drive. Does it make a huge difference which one I buy. I just picked that one because it was the cheapest. Is there any particular one I should buy?

Sorry for all the questions! Thanks again.
