    Hard to say without a specific film in mind, though I'm a huge fan of casting against type so, by genre:

    Comedy
    Al Pacino, Tobin Bell, Leland Orser, Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchet, Jennifer Connely

    Not all against type but close enough!

    Horror[i/]
    One person I seriously want in a horror, Will Ferell as a psycopath. He'd be awesome!

    Well scripted Action/Drama
    Bruce Campbell, Ron Perlman, Colin Farrell, Liam Cunningham, Zach Braff, Steve Carell, Simon Pegg, Tom Waits, Dylan Moran, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mila Kunis, Kate Hudson, Sarah Polley

    Much would depend on the type of film, so how about a different question: how would you recast an existing movie?

    I'll try Star Wars: A New Hope

    Luke: Daniel Craig
    Leah: Scarlett Johansen
    Han: Robert Downey Jr.
    Obi-Wan: Christopher Walken

    Don't tell George, or he'll digitally insert them in.
