Mozilla Firefox/Thunderbird removal

Upon checking my 'Add or Remove Programs' panel I find that I have two (2) copies of both Firefox and Thunderbird. May I remove the earlier entries (2.0.0.1) (1.5.0.14) without loosing all of my settings? Any comments will be very much appreciated.
