Not sure if you're already aware of this, but you can dial NI landlines using the 048 prefix. I know that on Vodafone contracts, the minutes you use will be changed against your "free" monthly minutes. And it's definitely cheaper for prepay, as it's charged as a national call instead of an international call.

For example, to dial Belfast, you would use 048 90123456 (instead of +442890 123456).

See here for information and example:

    Landlines only, though.

    Any of the following:

Move to 3 IRL billpay and use your minutes to call his British mobile.

Give him an O2 IRL prepay and use your Vodafone minutes to call him

Call him on landlines only +3534890xxxxx

You get a 3IRL 3pay and so does he: each of you call the other FOC.

He gets an O2 UK 'Your Country' SIM FOC, sticks 30GBP on it and has 200 free international minutes per month, gets up off his butt and calls you

He has/gets 3 UK and gives you a free 3 UK pre-pay SIM. Calls you FOC.

You dump him and get a Dublin/Oirish boyfriend.

One more thing......he gets a 3 UK Skypephone and you get a 3IRL Skypephone. You each Skype one another.

That's a great suggestion - probably the easiest solution here.
