    Hi all,
I have a laptop at home which is about 14 months old or so. It was my first one. I have been having problems with it in the last month. I have had the battery plugged in and attached to the PC all the time and i have been advised this is not a good thing to have done. I was unaware of this.

The core of the problem is when i go to search in google for anything. It finds some things very well and then others it just does not find the progress bar gets about half way and then it seems to stop looking. Also when i use the links in favourite it does not find all of them. The links are all fine.

I have de frag'd the disk and used clean up. I have McAfee virus scan and have scanned it and nothing was found.

Has anyone had similar problems ?

    Cheers
    Camo

run a few spyware and adware programs and make sure you have the latest version of your internet browser, i.e internet explorer 7 or mozilla firefox downloaded and installed,

this link here will help you with malware problems,

i take it your using windows?
just try using firefox or opera instead of windows explorer. or, upgrade windows explorer if you already havent.
doesnt sound like it has anything to do with always beeing plugged in.

al that does is use up your battery's recharge cycles.

plug it out and use it untill the battery completely dies.
then leave it turned off and let it charge beyond what it would normally take. it will recalibrate your battery.

    handy thing to know.

I have downloaded internet explorer's latest version and no improvement !
I did notice one thing. It works every now and then. Sometimes when i google something it will bring the search results up but when i click on the search results it seems to just stall halfway on the progress bar.
Also it does open the google item sometimes. This is when i hear a small click and then the desktop items on the main page disappear. I know this sounds weird but it happens.

Does this sound familiar to anyone ?

Just to thank you all for the advice. The AVG malware free edition software fixed the problem for me. Thanks a million
