Quick question,we have set up a limited company and have applied for our vat number but dont have it yet,now we need to pick up some stock in England but without our vat number they will charge us vat. Can we claim this back after or is it a case that we can not claim vat back untill we get our number (we applied for the vat number about 8 day s ago if that makes a difference)
    Thanks

You can claim relief for stock in trade when you register for Vat.

Therefore if you pay the Vat on these items you will be able to claim it back in your first Vat return. Along with the vat paid on any goods you have as stock when you registered for Vat.

Would you have to pay VAT in the UK if your bringing items back to Ireland??
I thought it was VAT free?

Ordinarily yes, but he doesn't vat an Irish Vat number, so the supplier has to charge Vat on the goods.
