Quick question regarding queen size/double size

    As the title says I'm confused as to which is bigger than which? I've recently moved abroad and bought new bedding/got some old bedding off relatives. The sizes seem very arbitrary so now I'm confused as to which is bigger, a queen size or double bed?

    A double bed is 4'6'' while a queen sized bed is 5' wide (a queen is the same as a uk&irl king size, while the yanks would call our superking size a king) so a queen is bigger

    I thought so.

    Fecking NZ with their bad labelling of bed products. We have a queen size bed and duvet and double size duvet cover we were given. The duvet cover is too big for the duvet when by rights it should be too small!

    /walks away muttering under breath
