I recently was asked to upgrade my iphone using itunes but half way through the update itunes said it didn't recognise my sim and my phone froze with the itunes logo on the screen only allowing me to make emergency calls. I gave it to a family friend who rebooted it so everything was wiped and when I plugged it n to sync it with itunes all of the memory was taken upon the panel by 'other' material even though nothing at all was saved on the phone:confused: I clicked restore to try to gain the material back but itune again came up with the sim error. I was told of a website called ziphone? that might have downloadable material to fix it

was it a legit iphone or an unlocked one?

it was unlocked. There was a backing that was put on my original sim but it's now gone

sounds like turbo sim......it was not unlocked merely fooled into thinking that the sim card was an AT&T sim.

i would ask your family friend what happened to it.

The family friend can't figure out why it happened. Is there anyway I could unlock it fully?

without knowing exactly what was done to it and exactly what state it is in right now...it is quite difficult to tell.

have a look at www.hackint0sh.org for in-depth knowledge of un-bricking/solving iphone unlock problems
