stunted growth..

bah, just wrote this for my blog but it's not really appropriate, slightly more relevant here perhaps, only slightly though..

so, i've realised that if i ever wanted to progress to 5/10+ it's going to pretty difficult at my current site as most, if not all, of the games are filled with regs tossing money back and forth between each other where it's difficult for any one of them to even have a marginal edge until the very occasional fish jumps in..

table selection is obviously a huge part of progressing and just looking through cts's old blog it seems he moved up limits extremely quickly by beating up on the fish without really ever having to sit at a table full of regs until 25/50 where he began to truely understand and master the game..

admittedly, nowadays the top of the learning curve must be understood at limits much lower to 2yrs ago but to a certain extent, what you lack in knowledge can be made up for with good table selection.. we're in this to make monies after all, egos at the door etc..

at the moment i'm using my laptop for 16tabling ipoker 400 and 600nl which has been fine whilst traveling but for all of this to come together and put a conscious effort into progressing, i'm thinking of settling down for a bit and invest in a new desktop with dual 30inch monitors so i can run all poker clients, datamine each of them and try to constanty be sitting in the best games..

i'm at a point where i feel my growth has been stunted somewhat and the only way i can see myself progressing is to continue grinding my 2/4 games but to also add the best 5/10 and 10/20 games when they become available.. maybe then, grinding it out with the 5/10 regs at my current network won't seem so daunting..

Fair play to you nick on what you have acheived so far travelling the world from your poker earnings.
But surely you need to cut the number of tables you are playing if you want to move up levels.

All poker software i think should be banned to stop the likes of you killing the golden goose by playing a zillion tables.
If the fish stop playing doubtful as that probably is it will be all regs swapping the money.

Surely, long gone are the days when the fish are sitting at 5/10 no?

I have been playing 5/10 10/20 the last couple of weeks and would disagree some of the play is just plain bad. Nick if your crushing 400/600nl then you should run well at 1k/2knl however if you are moving up levels it would do no harm to reduce the number of tables you play for a while.

    GL with it

Why don't you play full stacked if they are so bad?
    serious question

gl with it Nick. Having a proper dual screen set up and reducing the number of tables you play will definately help you improve your game and move up the stakes
