Czech Republic & Prague?

Hello weary travellers, may I trouble you for tales of your past travels yonder the continent?:pac:

OK enough of my poetic crap! I have travelled a good bit in my life and have conquered my 0.1% of North America, the UK and pretty much most places where we speak English. So I have decided to set foot on the European continent for the first time and my venue I am inclined to agree is Prague in the Czech Republic. I don't know a whole lot and am awaiting delivery from amazon for the ubiquitous guidebooks so with this, wikitravel, google earth and seasoned travellers here hopefully I should be able to figure out what to do and what to see and my biggest trouble; location location location.

My plan is to stay as close to Wenceslas square as possible or even stay on it but budgetry constraints won't allow I reckon. If anyone has stayed on or near the square let me know!

I plan to go for around 5 nights ex Dublin with CSA Czech Airlines around the end of July as the Aer Lingus flight from Cork arrives in there by night and I don't fancy flying into unknowns by night in a city where the taxis are mob run and extortion merchants (or so I've read).

How safe is the city? I am a seasoned traveller and I don't use wallets, etc. etc. The Wenceslas square is supposed to be the nice what does the jury think.

Anyway tis late, i'll report back with more info as to my plans etc.

If you think you should be as close to Wenceslas Square as possible, you have not yet found out much about Prague.

I suggest that you use the search function. There are dozens of threads on Prague in this forum. Then ask questions.

    Time to change your footer.
